The Mountain

In the Chamonix Valley, the « mountain spirit » opens itself to you and drives you to an exceptional setting.
Villagers share with you their traditions and their culture. Children and adults, everybody will find what they’re looking for. Come and discover the “Mountain culture”, and share new emotions just as you are.

• Hiking : Les Houches is a very good start to multiple walks and hikes, accessible to all. Within the forest or in the mountains, discover the naturel heritage of the region on well-kept and marked out paths. More...


• Climbing : Les Houches and Servoz offer 2 natural sites for climbing : one is in Chavants, and the other is in La Plaine Saint Jean.


• The ascent of Mont Blanc : let’s see each other at an altitude of 4810 m !


• Water sports : rafting, canoeing, ‘hydrospeed’(= type of water sport consisting in shooting the rapids on a board).


• Mounain bike, 3 runs, a practice park composed of 2 bike parks, a “2 in 1” way via Prarion and Mont Blanc cable car and streetcar.


• Museum and natural heritage, Mountain Museum in Les Houches, the House of Mountain Pasture in Servoz, the road of chapels, The “Gorges” of La Diosaz, the natural reserve of Carlaveyron, the pasture of Pormenaz …


• St Bernard breeding : the most important one in the Alps


• The Animal Park of Merlet, located at an altitude of 1562m, right in front of Mont Blanc : the Animal Park of Merlet allows you to discover the life of mountain animals on a 20 acres domain. Wild sheep, ibex, chamois, marmot, deer, fallow deer, doe, lama all spend happy days there !


• La Compagnie des Ânes : rides on donkeys’ backs, depending on snowing up and upon reservation only.


• La Ferme à Payot (farm producing goat cheese) : buy directly from the farm, and Snacks organized (days and hours to be communicated later on)
